Swimming

Greylock‘s lake, over 125 acres in size, is perfectly suited for camp swimming. The lake is fed by subterranean springs – so it is very clean. The swimming area has a sandy bottom with a beach. Although there is some very modest boat traffic on the lake, there are almost no waves that make swimming difficult for children. Our program in swimming is designed to help all levels of participants from remedial swimmers to the most advanced racers.

Swim counselors at camp take a lifeguarding and swim teaching course each summer. Specific coaches are hired to work with new and non-confident swimmers. It is our goal each summer for each boy to pass a basic deep water test and a great deal of care and attention are given to those boys who seek to pass it. Our program is run by a person with an extensive teaching and safety background.
