Here are some specific highlights of our program and philosophy: -Athletics: Instruction is the cornerstone of our athletic program. Greylock's Instructional Clinic System has been in effect for forty-five years and we have learned how to motivate campers. Our coaches utilize creative drills to introduce and develop component skills and conclude every session with fun scenarios and games that incorporate those skills. Every camper, no matter what his skill level, participates, receives instruction and encouragement, and ultimately succeeds. -Competition: Greylock provides opportunities for healthy, intelligent competition. We encouragement our boys to apply their skills and challenge themselves in fair, organized, competitive games both within Greylock, and with other northeast camps. Our campers understand that it is OK to win or lose. We reward progress and effort, not the final score. -Sportsmanship and Bullies: "That's OK, nice try!" Visitors are often -Social Skills: Development of good human relations through communal living with other campers and a mature, caring counselor staff. Social activities with nearby girls' camps round out the experience. -Ethics: We teach our staff and our campers to respect themselves and others. We offer support and encouragement and we do not tolerate bullies or put-downs. We strive to approach each challenge with honesty and fairness. We take pride in our accomplishments and openly admit and learn from our mistakes. We value effort, not just success. -Appreciation of Nature: A breathtaking natural environment and an exceptional nature program help us both to understand and wonder at the world we live in. Our outdoor adventure program offers climbing, ropes courses, mountain biking, canoe trips and hiking. Optional trips range from day hikes in our own forest to challenging three and four day hikes over some of the highest peaks in the Northeast. -Creativity: Creative arts and drama programs focus on imagination and technique. Trips to museums, concerts, and other cultural sites challenge our campers to broaden their minds and encourage them to value the arts. |
